Givevawy FUN!

I love prizes and giveaways!!!

Today I entered this great giveaway to win a pearl necklace from China. Jill recently got back from a mission trip to China where she bought the pearl necklace (I think she bought many!) from the Pearl market. I can't wait to go to China and do some great shopping!

Also, I entered this giveaway and actually won a blog makeover! I'll use the makeover to have Danielle re-design my blog from fall to Christmas!! So, make sure you check in after Thanksgiving to see my new look! Danielle is having another great giveaway to win some handmade Christmas cards. So go ahead and enter and maybe you'll win!

Also, don't forget about this giveawy to help bring home Owen!

So many giveaways out there maybe I should have one too? I'll have to think about something really good for all of you loyal readers!!

Go Titans!

The Tennessee Titans are playing Monday night football tonight in Nashville and I'm happily watching from the comforts of my own warm and cozy den! It is very chilly tonight in Nashville!

Mom and I are enjoying Smores by a warm fire...

Now, that's how to enjoy a football game!!!

I LOVE Saturdays like this:

I LOVE Saturdays like this:
· No plans
· No alarm
· Chilly, fall morning
· Drinking coffee leisurely by the warm fire (ok, I know it’s not that cold yet, but mom and I did start the fire for about 15 minutes to get the chill out of the house this morning. We still haven’t turned on the heat)
· Trying new recipes
· Football (however, my team lost)
· Time for crafts
· A trip to Target
· NO phone calls (sometimes it’s just nice to be quiet!)
Craft Projects: I found the directions for these cute pumpkins on one of my favorite blogs here. They are super easy and I really love them. I feel so productive too!

(please excuse the dust on my bookshelves)

The Process...

Now for the food, all of these recipes can be found here:

Sweet Potato Chips and Blue Cheese Dip

Corn Pudding

Sweet Potatoes

Chili...don't make the same mistake I did. The recipe calls for 3 canned chipotle peppers in adobo sauce I put in 3 cans of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce. Of course my version was much too hot to actually eat! I tried to tone down the overwhelming heat but ended up having to separate this big pot into 3 separate batches to put in the freezer. Then when I'm ready for chili again I'll use it as an already seasoned base to start a new pot. I can't believe I did that! It's something my mom would do!

Field Trip!

This Thursday we took our first field trip to the Sam Davis Home which is a historic home of a confederate hero from our area. It is a beautiful home on almost 200 acres of land. The kids loved seeing the cotton crops, the old home, the museum and everything else that went with the trip. Here are some good pictures of our fun day out of school...

We took part in some 'old fashioned' games like potato sack races.

We took a hay ride on the way to pick a pumpkin.

This is the Sam Davis Home

We got to each pick a pumpkin and take back to school. Next week we will paint them into globes as we learn map skills and the names of the continents and oceans. I'll post pictures because they usually turn out so cute!

Take some time to hop over to this family's website and enter their fabulous giveaway to help bring their son home! They have some great things offered and you can help another child find his forever family!

KISSES IN THE WIND

I hold you in my heart and touch you in my dreams.

You are here each day with me, at least that's how it seems.

I know you wonder where we are... what's taking us so long.

But remember child, I love you so and God will keep you strong.

Now go outside and feel the breeze and let it touch your skin...

Because tonight, just as always, I blow you kisses in the wind.

May God hold you in His hand until I can be with you.

I promise you, my darling, I'm doing all that I can do.

Very soon, you'll have a family for real, not just pretend.

But for tonight, just as always, I blow you kisses in the wind.

May God wrap you in His arms and hold you very tight.

And let the angels bring the kisses that I send to you each night.

Grandma's Birthday

This week we celebrated my Grandma's 87th birthday! I cooked dinner and Ambre made the birthday cake. She enjoyed opening gifts (with the help of Eddie and Maddie). I bought her a Kitchen Aid Mixer because her mixer of 40 years quit working recently. I think if you are 87 years old and still able to bake a cake you should definitely have a Kitchen Aid! We had a good time together!!

The Pumpkin Patch

Ambre and Eddie took the kids to the pumpkin patch last week and got these cute pictures taken. It's so festive!

How cute is he?

And finally, they have had enough! Bring on the tears and screaming!! Yikes, scary!!!!

True Story...

Yesterday was parent conference day, so we had a day without students. We have a neighborhood next to our school and sometimes the kids come and play on the playground when school is not in session. So yesterday some boys were playing on the playground and a teacher whose room is beside the playground had her window open. One of the boys said, "Man, I have to go pee"...she thought this was interesting and poked her head out the window (he didn't realize she could hear him) and she said, "What did you just say?", he said, "I had to go pee"...she said, "And, did you"...he said yes, mam. Yes, he just went ahead and peed outside on our building! So she said, "Meet me at the door"...she later discovered this was one of my good friends, one of my sweet student who had made the infraction on the playground.

She went on to take him to the janitors office to get some bleach water to clean the side of the building with. The janitor said, "What did you do?"...the boy said, "I pissed outside on the playground!"

She told me that this morning and I thought it was soo funny!!!
