today.i.did.it

lots of people my age have done it. most people have done it more than once. I've always wanted to do it. but, i had to wait until the perfect time. i made a promise to myself that i would not do it because of peer pressure. with the current state of our economy lots of people are doing it more and more...today i put an offer on a house!!!

i really wasn't intending to start looking at houses until the fall. but, i came across a great house that was in foreclosure (THE HOUSE IN THE PICTURE IS NOT IT:() So today I made an offer and now we'll have to wait and see what the bank says. I know there are multiple offers on this house and there is never a guarantee when you are dealing with foreclosures. So we'll just play the waiting game and I'll let you know!

Weekend Stuff

It was a boring weekend because honestly I didn't want to get dressed and be out in public! I just wanted to veg in front of the computer or TV all weekend. I have been slightly obsessed with buying a house because of the low interest rates and the $8,000 tax credit for first time home buyers. there are a couple really cute houses I'm interested in, but they are a bit out of my budget. So I decided to stop looking until the fall and save up some more money. Then hopefully I can find something I like with a good down payment. We'll see how it goes, but it is exciting to think about!

Saturday night we had some bad weather come through...storms and tornadoes. When it passed over I decided to go to the mall for a bit of window shopping and exercise. On the way there, about 3 miles from my home I saw a little boy in the street and he waved me over saying "Hey, stop, stop can you take me to Uncle Frank?". He was 4 years old and had really good communication skills. There was no adult outside and no cars passing by. He opened the passenger side door and got inside my car and kept asking me to take him to "Uncle Frank". I pulled over at the nearest parking lot and called the police. He lived in some nearby apartments but didn't ask to go back there. So I wasn't sure if anybody was at his home or if he was trying to run away from something or what. It was so weird! The police sent a patrol car to us but before they got there his parents came to get him. They had called the police and reported him missing and the police told them where I was (right beside the apartments). They were hysterical, but so polite and thankful that he was ok. They said his uncle had just left with his two brothers and he ran out of the apartment trying to catch him I guess. The parents thought he was with the uncle and the uncle had no idea. So needless to say little Maxwell made it an interesting weekend for me!!

Children can run off from anybody...my brother and I both walked away from our home (at different times) when we were toddlers. Thanks to some good citizens they brought us back home before mom ever knew we were missing. Mom says it scares her to think of it even today! So I'm just thankful that Maxwell is with his family and is safe and sound.

25 Months Paper Pregnant!

I saw this posted somewhere in blogland and thought it appropriate for this anniversary...

You know you are adopting from China when...

~You know that I-600 & I-171 aren't highways....

~You've been expecting a baby for over 3 years....

~You understand that it's 2006 in some parts of the world....

~You've "paid for" 3 citizenships, but never brought anyone into the U.S....

~You know that waiting for China has nothing to do with Dillards or dishes..

~Your homestudy is followed by a number (i.e. #3 or #4)...

~You never know how many days next month will have...

~You know that babies come in batches...

~You've been fingerprinted four times, but never committed a crime...

~You automatically assume everyone who is expecting is having a girl...

~You own new clothing in 3 little sizes for all 4 seasons...

~You look twice when you see a lady bug...

~You're more interested in what will happen in March 2006 than in March 2009...

~You know people who understand when you talk about 2 day months & 5 day months...

~Your due date hasn't changed by days, but by years...

~You know who the Rumor Queen is ... AND ... you don't know who she is...

~You know that forecast doesn't have anything to do with the weather...

~You've waited so long, they re-checked your fingerprints to see if they changed...

~Trying to understand why they're printing you again, you study your own fingerprints and wonder if fingerprints grow wrinkles...

~When you speak of "that time of month" you're talking about CCAA updates & referrals...
And finally...You might be adopting from China if you love someone you've never met with all your heart.....................

a few of my spring finds...

I'm trying to prepare for my first day back to school tomorrow by vegging in front of the TV, relaxing and blogging! (and these are a few of my favorite things!). I've been watching Lifetime movies all afternoon and now am watching one of my favorite movies...The Holiday on TBS.
I had a couple good and productive days of shopping for spring items this weekend...

I have brown, tan, and melon colored spring jackets to coordinate with this skirt. I wish my legs were this cute in it!!!

Yellow isn't my best color, however it seems to be everywhere this spring. So I'm incorporating some shades of yellow into my wardrobe. I also bought a clutch this color. I have a really cute navy and white wrap dress that I'm going to pair with these yellow shoes also.

I was in desperate need of sheets and these by Martha Stewart @ Macy's are really soft! I bought the yellow ones for spring and summer.

This black and white polka dot shirt looks cute on and I have some spring/summer white slacks to wear with it.

And finally, a new pair of flip flops. These are from Belk's and are super comfy!

What are you looking forward to wearing or buying this spring?

Happy Spring!

My Spring break has been hectic, productive, and quick! It's always sad to see the end of a break come, but here it is!

My grandmother is doing better. She is resting at home and seems to be getting stronger each day. I'm so grateful, I was really concerned that she would not be able to live alone anymore. But, at least for a while she'll be ok in her home. Family members are checking on her each day and she's resting.

I did get two doctor visits in of my own this week. My gynecologist thinks I may have endometriosis. (great!) I'm taking some medication for three months to see if anything changes. If not, she may have to do laproscropy surgery this summer to make a definite diagnosis.

I also went to the dentist. I knew I had a problem with one of my teeth and it was actually cracked. So I had an old filling removed and a new one put in. Thankfully I didn't have to have a crown put in.

I didn't have any time to spend with Maddie and Eddie which is sad:( It will have to wait for the summer I guess. Although this morning I did veg in front of the tv and Maddie came in with me and layed on me for about an hour...SO FUN! We watched The Food Network. Then around lunch time Eddie and I walked to the mailbox in the beautiful sunshine. He picked up all the sticks along the way. He loves it outside!

Now I'm off to do my favorite thing...shop for spring shoes, clothes, and accessories. I've cleaned out my closet today and put all the winter stuff away. I've made a list of things I need for Spring and Summer. I'm going to try and not overdo it. Happy Spring!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day, Friends!

According to legend, each leaf of the clover represents something: the first leaf is for hope, the second leaf is for faith, the third leaf is for love, and the fourth leaf, naturally, is for luck.

I, for one, need some luck this St. Patrick's Day...actually my grandma does. She was rushed to the ER on Sunday afternoon with symptoms of a stroke. After spending 24+ hours in the ICU it appears that it wasn't a stroke (good news), however she is very weak and my family has to make some tough decisions about what her next steps will be. She is 87 years old and very independent! We don't want her independence taken away, however we can't risk her falling and hurting herself either. It is a huge job (physically) to help her get around, get dressed, shower, etc. I'm not sure what this week will bring, but it's not exactly the spring break I had planned. That is ok though, I'm just glad I have the time off to figure this out! Thanks for your prayers!

Signs of Spring...

One of the first signs of spring in the South has to be when the blooms start to appear on the beautiful Bradford Pear tress. They are all around my area so as I've driven to and from school this week they reminded me that my long awaited Spring Break is acomin'!! Glory Hallelujah for my sweet schedule! Now, don't get too jealous of me. You all know what I put up with on a daily basis...whines, tattling, complaining, excuses...and that is just from the parents!

I have a good group of kids this year, but we all need a break by this time in the year. I'm ready to get rested and refreshed this week! I have some fun things planned, although I'll be in town I'm going to act like I'm on vacation!

Today...3/3/2009 Madison turned 3 years old. We're having her "Princess" party Saturday and I'll post pictures then. Today we had a small celebration at daycare and she opened her gifts from me. I did get some cute pictures, but I'm too tired to upload them. So for now, this is all.

Happy Birthday, sweet Maddie!!

I love Magazines!

I love to read Magazines, do you? My favorite subscription right now is the Martha Stewart Living. I usually subscribe to one a year and then spend way too much at the grocery store buying others throughout the month that grab my attention. Recently I heard about Maghound which is a magazine subscription site similar to what Netflix is to movies. You can get on there website (http://www.maghound.com/) and choose from a variety of magazines for only a small monthly payment. I browsed the choices this weekend and picked my top 6 magazines for only around $10/month. Those magazines would cost at least $30/month if I really bought them all...what a savings! So, visit the website and see what you think. Have fun!!

I'm Exhausted...

Do you hear that? the sound of pure silence in my home except for the roar of the fire in my fireplace! It's pure luxury! I'm exhausted because we've kept these two munchkins:
for 5, 6, 0r 7 days...I don't really know how long it's been, but it's been several days! ...don't let their innocence fool you! They are a complete handful!!!! Their parents went to Jackson Hole, Wyoming for a Snow Ski/Anniversary trip this week and we had the kids. Then on Saturday I made a quick 24 hour getaway to pick up my grandmother in East Tennessee. She's been visiting family in North Carolina for two months and was ready to come home! She is 87 years old and this trip has been hard on her. I think she's home to stay now, no more traveling for her!
I hope Eddie and Ambre are home to stay for a while so mom and I can recover for their next trip. Mom really needs a break...62 years old...12 kids a day for 12 hours a day...errands on the weekends to prepare for the next week.(plus add the care/stress of an aging parent, my grandmother, who really shouldn't even be living alone) She doesn't have a recovery period at all. This is why I know I have to move out before Molly gets here. It's really unfair to expect a grandparent to live with a grandchild especially if they are in childcare during the day anyway. She needs her time too. So I'm working on a plan to move out...I'll keep you updated!
I planned on taking pictures and updating the blog for Eddie and Ambre to see while they were away...obviously I didn't get around to that.
